Seeking Volunteers!

Recently, we have had an increase in parents driving up to school from the driveway entrance on Waukesha Street to drop their children off in the morning. To help prevent this unsafe activity, we are seeking volunteers to help redirect traffic. If you are interested in helping out, please call the school. Thank you!

Velma Hamilton Middle School - "Where I Belong"

Weekly Target Behavior

Speak up about safety

Students at Velma Hamilton Middle School are scholars who use technology appropriately. Please remember to have cell phones "off and away" during school hours.

Wellness Corner

The safety of our students is a top priority here at Hamilton. In order to ensure this, it is important that students are accounted for at all times. An key part of this is being sure to call in to the attendance life if your child will be absent for any part of the day. Keep in mind that this also applies if your student is planning to participate in the walk out next Wednesday. More information about this will be sent out soon.

Welcoming Schools

Last week's newsletter touched on what being an ally means in terms of bullying prevention and intervention. Here is a great article about more ways to be an ally for both students and parents alike →

Help needed for the Hamilton Follies!

The Hamilton Follies is a fun Hamilton tradition where the students have a chance to show off their talent. It is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, April 25th. We are in need of volunteers to help organize the event! We are looking for a lead organizer as well as volunteers who can help with auditions (April 17th and 18th after school), dress rehearsal (April 23rd and 24th after school), preparation of the program, and "crowd control" back and front stage on the night of the show. Please consider helping out in any way you can. Interested? Contact Melissa Hornung,

Teacher Appreciation

It is that time of year again to work together to support our wonderful teachers at Velma Hamilton Middle School. By this time in the school year supplies are running low and teachers appreciate the additional support. They are working on their list of needs. We will have a SignUpGenius available for you to choose which item or items you can purchase and donate to the teacher or teachers of your choice. Please keep an eye out for this list and more details about the event.

Teacher Wish Lists

Hamilton Parents and other supporters,

The PTO recognizes and appreciates the continued support from the parents of children attending Hamilton Middle School. Throughout the school year, you have whole heartedly participated in all the fundraising opportunities presented. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. The PTO is offering you another opportunity to show your support to the children and staff at Hamilton Middle School. As the school year winds down, staff struggle to provide the same high quality education as provided at the beginning due to lack of supplies. The staff have identified needed  items and submitted that list to the PTO. Starting today, you can sign up and purchase items that are needed to complete the school year. Please sign up for one or many items to contribute. Once the items have been purchased they can be dropped off at the school. If you cannot get them to school, you can email Melissa Hornung ( and she will work with you and a volunteer to get these items to school. We appreciate your interest in supporting the staff at Hamilton. They provide a great education for our children and this is an opportunity to show  them how much you appreciate their commitment.

Please sign up here for one or many items to contribute.
