Statement from the Madison Metropolitan School District Regarding Whitehorse Middle School

The Madison Metropolitan School District acknowledges that the past two weeks have been extraordinarily challenging for many members of our community. We recognize that this situation, including unsubstantiated claims directed at specific staff members, has been the source of significant distress and concern for everyone involved.

MMSD treats all allegations of misconduct with the utmost seriousness. Our commitment is rooted in fostering a learning and working environment defined by mutual respect and safety for all. We continue to urge our community to rely on verified and official information. 

Based on the information available to the District at this time, we have concluded that the claims against MMSD staff could not have occurred as alleged.  

Therefore, the District has formally closed its Title IX investigation into two staff members stemming from allegations of an event that allegedly occurred on October 23, 2025. This decision was reached after a comprehensive process designed to ascertain the facts in a fair and unbiased manner. 

Our main priority now is supporting the healing and well-being of everyone involved and trust-building within our schools, particularly at Whitehorse Middle School. We are dedicated to providing resources and support services to help all affected individuals maintain safe learning environments for students and staff.
