Jefferson Middle School Sign

The Citizens’ Ad Hoc Committee for Renaming Jefferson Middle School met on Tuesday, Nov. 22. A public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 6 on the four remaining naming proposals.

Fall Break: No School Nov 23-25

In this special message, MMSD Superintendent Dr. Carlton Jenkins wishes everyone an enjoyable fall break. As this is also National Youth Homeless Awareness Month, Dr. Jenkins asks our community to reflect and think about those who are experiencing homelessness during this time.

Two MMSD elementary teachers were honored with UW-Madison’s School of Education Rockwell Awards during an education celebration Nov. 12. The Rockwell Awards recognize excellent educators who have chosen to pass on their expertise by providing professional experiences for UW-Madison student teachers.

On November 15, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) publicly issued annual report cards for schools and districts across the state. Released each fall per state statute, report cards are part of the state’s accountability system, with schools’ ratings based on prior year’s data from standardized state assessments.

Dawn Svanoe is a beacon of warmth, joy, shine and fun!!! While she supports and uplifts our youngest scholars our entire school feels her positive presence and impact. Between starting our mornings off right with a bit of music and dance or adding sparkle and color; Elvehjem is beyond fortunate to have Dawn as part of our team.
